About Us

Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics was established at Trakya University Faculty of Medicine Basic Medical Sciences in 1998. Our department teaches both undergraduate and graduate level “Biostatistics”, “Computer” and “Scientific Research Methods” courses at various faculties and institutes of our university.

Prof. Dr. Necdet SÜT is the head of the department. Currently, 1 Professor and 1 Associate Professor  are employed in our department.

Our department provides consultancy services for scientific research planning and data analysis to the researchers from both our university and the neighboring cities.

Mission and Vision
Mission of our department is to educate physicians and researchers, who are equipped with knowledge of biostatistics, who know and use modern research methods and who can conduct a scientific research from the beginning to the end, through the given undergraduate and graduate courses. Our another mission is to coordinate the scientific studies and to support the researchers in their studies and to present the information that is produced from our scientific studies to the service of our country and the humanity.

Vision of our department is to reach an internationally respected position in the field of biostatistics education and research.

Biostatistics Laboratory

Biostatistics laboratory, which consists of 45 computers with statistical softwares and internet access that is open for continuous use for our students, was established in 2009.

In this laboratory, our students perform biostatistical methods in the context of medical decision making and evidence-based medicine.
